Empowerment Academy

The Empowerment Academy is an after-school tutoring program designed to prepare high school students to pass the California High School Exit Examination (CAHSEE). The program has two components: an intensive tutoring session and a social development piece that allows students to learn positive social behavior.

Who’s Eligible? Any high school student...

  • involved in gang activity, or at-risk of being involved in gang activity.
  • needing to pass the CAHSEE exit exam.
  • needing help on homework or tutoring on basic English or math.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Sacramento Urban League Empowerment Academy is to instill in youth, a life changing ethic so they may achieve self-sufficiency that transforms their lives and communities. This mission is accomplished through:

  • Secondary Education
  • Employment

Vision Statement
The Vision of the Empowerment Academy (EA) is to become a nationally recognized Academy for youth who need structure, guidance and help in transforming their lives into productive citizens. EA will use a myriad of resources, and organizations to deliver outstanding customer service to its youth.
