Computer Clubhouse

The Computer Clubhouse is designed to bring learning opportunities in computer technology to youth who may not be able to find them elsewhere. Computer Clubhouses provide a safe and well-resourced environment that inspires students to be creative by using high-powered technology tools to develop projects that interest them. Students are able to utilize Clubhouse resources to develop projects in areas such as art and animation, web design, music and sound, electronic publishing, computer-controlled devices and three-dimensional design.

It is an after-school learning environment where young people enjoy exploring their own interstes in computer technology, while interacting with peers and Mentors.  Computer Clubhouses are located in more than 17 countries worldwide.

Guiding Principles:

Learn by designing.  Research shows that young people learn best when they are actively engaged in exploring, experimenting and expressing themselves, not just passively receiving information.  Computer Clubhouses support this strategy by helping students use computers to design, create and invent.  It’s not just learning by doing; it’s learning by designing.

Follow your interest. Clubhouses provide students with a great deal of choices, so that students can find projects and activities they really care about.
