Breanna came to our office in September 2022 seeking help with her mortgage. She and her husband purchased their home in 2018, but after he passed away due to COVID-19 Breanna had difficulty paying her mortgage. She reached out to the Greater Sacramento Urban League and met with one of our HUD-Certified Counselors to discuss ways she could get assistance with the loan and her monthly payments. Her situation was particularly complicated because Breanna was on the title of the house, but not on the loan. Our counselor worked with Breanna to secure documentation that was required for the California Mortgage Relief (CMR) application she needed to submit. After several phone calls with CMR, Breanna’s file was approved in late November, and she was added to the loan as well as was able to pay her lender $13,000 to bring her loan current.
